Supported Devices

Shelly offers two kinds of metering hardware, each with its own protocol in the EMS.

Dedicated energy meters

Meters with CT clamps that measure a whole circuit. Select the Shelly Energy Meter API protocol.

Device TypeLocal API
Shelly Pro 3 EM (400)✅
Shelly 3EM

Relays with power metering (PM)

Switches with a built-in power meter, which measure the load wired to their relay output. Select the Shelly energy meter via switch (relay) component protocol: it only reads the metering values and never switches the relay. Use the Shelly relay integration instead when the EMS must be able to switch the load on and off.

Device TypeLocal API
Shelly Plus 1PM✅
Shelly Plus 2PM
Shelly Plus PM Mini
Shelly Pro 1PM
Shelly Pro 2PM
Shelly Pro 4PM
Shelly Plus Plug S
Shelly 1PM Gen3
Shelly 1PM Mini Gen3
Shelly 2PM Gen3
Note
Note

Every switch with power metering is added as a separate meter, so a Shelly Pro 4PM results in four meters.

Note
Note

This integration has not been tested with all the devices listed above, however, since they all use the same communication protocol, they should work without issues.

Wiring

The communication between the EMS and the Shelly relay is established via Local API (over TCP/IP). For proper Ethernet wiring, please follow the Ethernet wiring guidelines.

Wiring Instructions

  1. Power Supply Connections

    • L (Live): Connect the live wire to the L terminal of the device.
    • N (Neutral): Connect the neutral wire to the N terminal of the device.

  2. Access the Shelly Interface

    • Using a phone or other device, connect to the Shelly relay's Wi-Fi network (e.g. SSID: ShellyPro2-XXXXXX).
    • Open a browser and navigate to http://192.168.33.1 to access the Shelly interface.
  3. Locate the Ethernet Settings

    • In the Shelly interface, navigate to the Ethernet Settings section.
    • Here, you will find the assigned Ethernet IP address, which is required for connecting the device to the controller.

Note

Note: Do not modify any settings while locating the Ethernet IP address.

By following these steps, you will retrieve the required IP address for integrating the Shelly relay with the EMS. For further details and comprehensive documentation, please refer to the official Shelly Installation Guides.
