Supported Devices

For a site connected through a SAJ eManager-C1 Pro, use the separate eManager connection below instead of selecting an individual inverter model.

SAJ eManager-C1 Pro

The eManager is a local gateway for the inverters connected to it. This connection reads the combined installation through the eManager rather than opening a separate connection to every inverter.

Connect the eManager

1. Connect the eManager and the EMS to the same local network. Follow the Ethernet wiring guidelines.
2. Open the controller's device setup and select SAJ, then eManager.
3. Enter the eManager's IP address, TCP port 502 and configured Modbus address. This connection uses Ethernet, not the RS485 settings for other SAJ equipment.
4. Fill in How many inverters are connected to the eManager? with the actual number connected to this gateway.
5. Add the connection and check the displayed system power, battery state of charge, grid measurements, phase voltages and frequency before enabling energy management.

Why the inverter count matters

The eManager combines readings from its connected inverters. The controller uses the inverter count to convert the combined voltage and frequency readings back to meaningful values. For example, four connected inverters can return a combined frequency reading of 200 Hz; an inverter count of 4 produces the expected 50 Hz display.

If voltage or frequency appears to be a multiple of the expected value, correct Inverter count. Do not compensate by changing the electrical installation settings. The power readings represent the combined system and are not divided by this count.

The connection provides an AC active-power setpoint for the combined system. It does not provide independent setpoints for every inverter behind the eManager, or a separate PV power-limit command.

Configuration

1: Physical Connection Setup

For Ethernet Connection:

1. Locate the communication interface on your SAJ inverter
2. Connect an ethernet cable between the inverter and your local network
3. Follow the ethernet wiring guidelines for proper installation

For RS485 Connection:

1. Locate the RS485 port on your SAJ inverter
2. Connect the RS485 cable according to the following pinout:
   • PIN A: RS485+
   • PIN B: RS485-
   • GND: Ground (if available)

2: Network Configuration

1. By default, the inverter is set to obtain an IP address automatically via DHCP
2. If using a static IP configuration:
   • Access the inverter's web interface
   • Navigate to Network Settings
   • Configure the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway as needed

3: Communication Settings

For optimal performance, ensure the following communication parameters:

• Modbus TCP port: 502 (default)
• RS485 baud rate: 9600
• Data bits: 8
• Stop bits: 1
• Parity: None

Wiring

Ethernet Connection

• Use CAT5e or CAT6 ethernet cable
• Maximum cable length: 100 meters
• Follow the guidelines for ethernet wiring

RS485 Connection

• Use shielded twisted pair cable
• Maximum cable length: 1000 meters
• Connect the shield to ground at one end only
• Maintain proper RS485 bus topology

Common issues and solutions:

   • Check cable quality and connections
   • Verify there's no electromagnetic interference
